Victoria Lawn Tennis Club, in Street, Somerset, welcomes players of all ages and ability We have two new Astro Turf Courts and two hard courts which have been recently painted and refreshed. There are floodlights on all four courts, allowing for year round play. We have good court availability, with free play, and booking via ClubSpark, at all times except club sessions where you can just turn up.
As well as our own Tennis Pavilion next to the courts, with kitchen and toilets, we enjoy all the facilities of the Victoria Social Club, with spacious changing rooms and showers, a well -stocked bar, two lounge areas, pool table, skittle alley and function hall.
The club is friendly and inclusive with plenty of opportunity to socialise. Social events include club tournaments, quiz nights and a Christmas get together.
As well as social and club tennis we compete in county summer and winter leagues with great success, running Men’s teams (A, B and C), Women’s Teams (A, B, and C), Mixed doubles and Vet’s teams.
We are lucky to have an outstanding professional coach John Cooksley and assistant coach Joseph Pitman, who are available throughout the year for individual and group coaching for both juniors and seniors. Please see below for coaching timetable.
Outside of club sessions or league matches the courts are always accessible with a members fob. Victoria Club would prefer that playing is restricted where possible, to sociable hours and lights are not to be used after 10pm, the neighbours and community should be respected at all times.

Light tokens can be obtained from the Bar in the Social Club for £2.00/ token.

John aims to enable more people to have access to tennis and build lasting partnerships within the local community, where tennis can grow and flourish. He is committed to all players reaching their personal best.
John has coached in the local area at various clubs including Wells, Wedmore and Cheddar, coaching a number of county and national players. Most recently he was head of performance at south Devon tennis centre and Devon ladies county coach. He has now joined the Somerset county coaching team and has been taking the U10 and U12 girls to County Cup this summer.
Competitively he has represented the county from the age of 8 becoming the captain for both Devon and Somerset. He has also captained UWIC university first team and various teams to successfully win the North Somerset Tennis League’s top division.
John is a very dedicated coach and has a great passion for tennis, he loves coaching all players from tiny tots to more advanced players.
